Arlington Heights is a village about 25 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. The 2020 census counted 77,676 residents, and the village covers 16.64 square miles. ZIP codes 60004 and 60005 serve the village. It took the name Arlington Heights in 1874 and incorporated in 1887. Metra’s Union Pacific Northwest Line stops at two stations in the village, Arlington Heights downtown and Arlington Park, with trains to Ogilvie Transportation Center in Chicago. Interstate 90 and Illinois Route 53 run along the south and west edges of the village, toward O’Hare and the city. Arlington Heights School District 25 operates most of the public elementary and middle schools, and John Hersey High School is part of Township High School District 214.
